Read more about Jossalyn below.
I started at WMSC when I was about four years old where I was on a Grassroots team. When I was eight years old, I began playing Rep soccer for the age group above and that’s when I truly discovered my passion for soccer. Some of my earliest memories at the club are attending Skills Camp in U8/U9, and competing in tournaments with my team.
Throughout my time at the club, my pathway has been Grassroots, Rep, and OPDL. My most recent season was on the Women’s League1 Reserve team, which has been my favourite season. I had two amazing coaches, Adolfo Plaza and Becky Sanzsole, and I was surrounded by a great group of players. The coaches ensured that practices were competitive which allowed me to challenge myself and develop as a player and person.
My advice to players looking to be recruited in the future is to be confident in your abilities. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there and showcase your talent. You will receive offers along with rejections which is all part of the process, so keep putting in effort until you find the perfect fit.
I would like to thank my recruiter, Ryan Neceski and his team at Next Level U Sports for all they have done for me along the way. I am grateful for BVB IA Waterloo and all of my past coaches for providing me with the opportunity to grow as a player. I would like to express my appreciation for my family and friends for always supporting and encouraging me. Finally, many thanks to Head Coach, Marisa Colzie of SMU Women's Soccer, for inviting me to be part of the Huskies family.
From all of us at BVB IA Waterloo, we wish you the best of luck and an abundance of success in the future, Jossalyn!
